M.Ed. Career Opportunities

Graduate students who already have teaching certificates can use their M. Ed. Degree studies to deepen their understanding of teaching/learning strategies. This could lead to becoming a department chair or team leader within a school.

 

The Advanced Literacy Instruction sequence of courses qualifies the graduate for a Reading Specialist certificate upon successful completion of the Reading Specialist TExES exam. This enables the graduate to:

  • Work as a Reading Specialist in an elementary or secondary school or at the district level.
  • Train in Teacher Education at a Regional Service Center.
  • Teach in Teacher Education literacy courses at a university.

 

The Differentiated Instruction sequence of courses qualifies the graduate to:

  • Work as a Differentiated Instruction specialist in an elementary or secondary school or at the district level.
  • Train in Differentiated Instruction at a Regional Service Center.
  • Teach in teacher education programs at a university or college.

 

The Educational Administration sequence of courses qualifies the graduate to:

  • Work as a Principal or in other administrative-level positions in public or private schools.
  • Train in Educational Administration or Teacher Education at a Regional Service Center.
  • Teach undergraduate Teacher Education courses at a university or college.

 

The Instructional Leadership sequence of courses prepares the graduate for leadership roles in:

  • Curriculum development
  • Professional development
  • Empowerment of teachers
  • Instructional development
  • Academic coaching

 

The Special Education sequence of courses qualifies the graduate to:

  • Work as a Special Education specialist in an elementary or secondary school or at the district level.
  • Work as a Special Education Designer for an educational publishing company.
  • Teach undergraduate classes in Special Education at a university or a Regional Service Center.

 

The Sports Administration sequence of courses qualifies the graduate to:

  • Work as an athletic director.
  • Teach undergraduate sports managment courses at a university or college.
  • Manage select sports leagues.
  • Work in the fitness industry.
