Graduate students who already have teaching certificates can use their M. Ed. Degree studies to deepen their understanding of teaching/learning strategies. This could lead to becoming a department chair or team leader within a school.
The Advanced Literacy Instruction sequence of courses qualifies the graduate for a Reading Specialist certificate upon successful completion of the Reading Specialist TExES exam. This enables the graduate to:
- Work as a Reading Specialist in an elementary or secondary school or at the district level.
- Train in Teacher Education at a Regional Service Center.

- Curriculum development

The Special Education sequence of courses qualifies the graduate to:
- Work as a Special Education specialist in an elementary or secondary school or at the district level.
- Work as a Special Education Designer for an educational publishing company.
- Teach undergraduate classes in Special Education at a university or a Regional Service Center.
The Sports Administration sequence of courses qualifies the graduate to:
- Work as an athletic director.
