There are 5 that can be obtained under the umbrella of M.Ed.

  • EDAD - The most popular, the Educational Administration specialization will prepare you to enter school administration, to become a school principal or another administrator in your school or district. You will also have the opportunity to be certified in AEL and T-TESS for the purpose of evaluating teachers in the state of Texas.
  • LTC - A literacy specialization will prepare you for infinite roles in literacy in your school, and it will prepare you to take the Reading Specialist state exam.
  • DIFN - The M.Ed. with a specialization in differentiated instruction will not only set you on the path to become a master teacher, but also concentrate on educating the exceptional child.
  • SPAD - Our newest M.Ed. specialization is in Sports Administration. This program is designed for those interested in taking leadership roles in various areas of athletics.

Capstone Projects

Most of our M.Ed. programs allow the student to demonstrate content proficiency by means of a "capstone" project. Some of these projects include an internship near the end of the program.

  • EDAD - Students are required to complete a practicum under the mentorship of a certified administrator and log observed hours in several state-mandated standards. Students also write a "mini project" which benefits a school in some way.
  • LTC - Students do a Case Study near the end of their program which involves an individualized field study of a student using learned diagnostic and evaluative techniques.
  • DIFN - Students engage in an Action Research project which includes writing a report on an Action Research topic.
  • SPAD - Students will do an Action Research project that will allow them to focus on a particular area of interest to them, which results in writing an Action Research report.
