 Jazzy Schwolert

Meet Jazzy Schwolert

Jazzy loved how welcomed she felt when she first visited Concordia as a prospective student and knew she had made the right choice when she began her freshman year. During that year, however, tragedy struck when her brother Max suddenly passed away. "I had to go back to college that second semester and be away from the rest of my family, which was hard", Jazzy said.

"Something so beautiful happened, though", she continued. "I found a second family. I had never experienced such grace and kindness from so many people. My gratitude for Concordia is immeasurable it gave me a place to be unapologetically myself and to be loved no matter what."

Jazzy is now taking the world by storm by working for Water to Thrive (a nonprofit dedicated to providing clean water to rural Africa) as their Outreach and Communications Coordinator. The Schwolert family also began a scholarship fund in Max's memory called Love to the Max. They were able to give their first ever Love to the Max scholarship of $5,000 to a grateful student this past year.

"It's important for me to support my alma mater because of the impact it made on my life", said Jazzy. "I so badly want other students to experience the community and the support I had at Concordia, where people truly love God and others."
