AUSTIN, TX- On graduation day Concordia Texas Baseball kept Keller-Faszholz Field alive for one more game as they beat the University of the Ozarks in game two 7-3. Then follow with a 10-9 win to send the Tornados to the American Southwest Conference Tournament. Nick Cmerek, Tom Williams and Chad Thielepape each recorded a homerun in the win posting six runs off of Tornado homeruns. Concordia recorded their first run in game one in the top of the fifth off a Nick Cmerek solo homerun. Tom Williams followed with a three run homer in the sixth inning to give Concordia the momentum and the first lead of the game at 4-3. Defensively the Tornados held the Eagles to only three runs as they posted three more. The final run to give the Tornados the 7-3 lead was in the top of the eighth off a Chad Thielepape solo homerun. Steven Szkotak pitched 6 1/3 innings allowing nine hits with two strikeouts. Concordia’s all-time save leader Matt Aubry picked up another save in 2 2/3 innings giving up one hit and one strikeout. In game three Concordia started strong after Ozarks jumped to a 4 run first innings as they tied it at four apiece. Thielepape drove in three off a double off the wall. The Tornados continued the scoring in the second inning driving in two runs. Then in the fourth to combated Ozarks three run third inning Concordia again hit three homeruns by Justin Beasley, Tom Williams and Brian Wernecke. Ben Whiteley threw 6 2/3 innings allowing nine hits and three strikeouts. Peter Ontiveros picked up the win with 1 1/3 innings while Senior Matt Aubry finished game three retiring the first three batters faced. Next Action will be in the American Southwest Conference Tournament on May 1st, 2008 in Abilene, Texas at Driggers Field home of the McMurry University.
