Thomas Sauer (Tomas Zur) is a native of Hoyerswerda, in the former East Germany and is of Wendish descent. He attended the Leipzig Conservatory, studying under Johannes Kaestner, and became Domorganist at St. Hedwigs in Berlin in 1978.

Mr. Sauer won the Leipzig Bach Prize in 1976 and the Bratislava Prize in 1985. He has recorded the works of Mendelssohn along with other composers on compact disks.

He recently toured Texas, playing in four locations, two in the Houston area and two in the Austin area. Mr. Sauer concertizes regularly throughout Europe and performs frequently on German Radio.
