CTX Welcome Party 2012

CTX hosts back-to-school event for students and community August 21

Concordia University is kicking off the new school year on August 21 with a welcome party for students and community members.  The event will feature food, live music and a trade-show style set up where attendees can visit booths and learn about organizations and clubs on campus as well as area businesses and churches.

“Our hope for this event is not only for students to learn about the community around them, but also for the community to learn about us here at Concordia," said assistant director for student services, John Adams.  "We are really looking forward to this being an ‘open house’ type of event that our Northwest Austin neighbors can look forward to each year.”

This free party, sponsored by University Federal Credit Union, runs from 4-7 pm and will feature music from a Reach Records artist, Tedashii, refreshments from Coca-Cola, various food products, door prizes and a photo booth.

The entire community is invited so mark your calendar for a family-oriented night of fun and to get back into the spirit of school.

“We hope this carnival-like event will become a yearly tradition as we open up our ‘home’ to the community as a whole,” said Adams. “We will have even more vendors than last year, and we are hoping for an even bigger crowd.”

Any area business or church that is interested in setting up a booth and participating in this event should contact studentservices@concordia.edu.
