Biological Sciences Distinguished Speaker Series; third Tuesdays

The College of Science at Concordia University Texas is excited to announce the launch of the Biological Sciences Distinguished Speaker Series on the third Tuesday of each month during the academic school year.
The first installment on Tuesday, September 18 will feature Schonna Manning, Ph.D., a research scientist from the Culture Collection of Algae at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Manning will share her exciting research about the use of algae as a promising source of pharmaceuticals, biomass, and biofuel. She will discuss various genetic and molecular biology techniques that her research utilizes to uncover the diversity of algae and its possible applications as a more environmentally-sensitive source for the world’s increasing energy demands.
You can listen in on these engaging conversations each month from 11:30a – 12:30p on the campus of Concordia in the Auditorium located in Building A. (Campus map) Concordia University Drive is located on RR 620 just north of 2222 and south of 183. (Directions to Concordia) Please note that lunch is not served, but is available before or afterwards in the Concordia cafeteria (Bldg E) or at one of the many fine area restaurants.
