Men's Tornado Basketball continues to be a force in NCAA competition, beating the Tigers of Trinity University on March 2 to advance to the second round of NCAA play this weekend in Belton against American Southwest Conference (ASC) rival The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB) Crusaders.
The Saturday, March 9 game will be the fourth meeting of the season between the two teams. UMHB won both regular season meetings before Concordia edged the Cru 80-76 to win the ASC Tournament Championship Game on February 23 and earn a spot in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
This is the farthest the team has gone as a member of the American Southwest Conference (ASC), of which Concordia has been a member since 1999. Concordia men’s basketball realized a national championship in 1983 as a member of the National Little College Athletic Association.*
Saturday’s game time is 7 pm. Gates open at 5 pm. The winner of this Saturday's NCAA tournament game will advance to the Sectional Round on March 16.
