Concordia makes list to receive Google fiber

High speed service will triple capacity at the main campus in Austin

Update on 11-21-13: City Council postponed approval of the list until December 12.

The Austin City Council recently released a list of 100 non-profits and community organizations slated for approval to receive Google Fiber.

City leaders and Google teamed up to select the organizations. The ultra-high speed service is expected to be ready in parts of Austin by mid-2014.

"I am thrilled CTX made the list to receive Google fiber," LB Brady, chief information officer at Concordia, said. "This new connection will triple our capacity and support our future plans for the students and faculty."

The chosen 100 organizations will get free fiber for a period of 10 years.
