Duet Acting Contest

To give each actor a full, real-life experience in their performance, Duet Acting will take place in the Concordia University Auditorium. Students will enjoy performing onstage to an audience in a professional theater setting.

In order to give each performer a fair amount of time, each school may only enter one duet for this event. Duets are encouraged to include actors from all grade levels. Each duet is to memorize a four to six minute selection of a serious or humorous play. Due to time constraints, we will not be able to accommodate performances from more than eleven schools. Registration will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Each presentation will be evaluated according to the following:

  • Did the presenters capture the mood and feeling of the selection?
  • Did the presenters suggest the different characters in the selection?
  • Does blocking (movement) clarify the characters' attitudes toward each other, and clarify the tension in the selection?
  • Did the selection seem to end in a logical place?
  • Were vocal factors of rate, pitch, volume and quality used to enhance the  presentation?
  • Were facial expression, gestures, and stance used to enhance the presentation?
