Dr. Jodi Blount

Dr. Jodi Blount is an Adjunct Professor of Music at Concordia University.  She has served as the music director at Cedar Park First United Methodist Church since 2008, and was a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Blount received her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin where she studied Piano Performance and Pedagogy.  She holds a Master of Music Degree in Piano Performance from the University of Maryland at College Park, and a Bachelor of Music Degree from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina.  Her teachers include Lita Guerra, Bradford Gowen, Derek Parsons, and Anthony di Bonaventura.

Dr. Blount grew up in New Orleans where she began her piano studies at the age of four with Dr. Janet Swanzy of Loyola University.  She has performed a variety of solo and chamber recitals throughout her career.  Some performance highlights include Sonata Breve for piano in Maryland with the composer, Samuel Adler, in attendance and recently, The Tribute Concert for Janet Swanzy in New Orleans.

Dr. Blount is an active performer as a soloist and accompanist in the Austin area.  She enjoys working with middle school and high school choirs and bands.

Dr. Blount is a member of Austin District Music Teachers, the Music Teachers’ National Association, and the Texas Music Educator’s Association.
