Lessons & Private Study

Individual private lessons are available to all students, regardless of major. Students may register for a 30 minute private lesson once per week (1 credit) or a full hour lesson once per week (2 credits). The lessons are designed to help all students achieve high levels of technical skill and musicianship.

Private Music Lesson Guidelines outline the general requirements for all private students, regardless of instrument.

 

Voice

Students study voice privately or in a class setting with Prof. Blythe Cates or Dr. Wayne Davis. The instructors match the skill level and interests of students with quality vocal literature in a variety of styles.

 

Piano

 Music Majors, Minors as well as students who just enjoy piano as an elective have the opportunity to study with Dr. Patricia Burnham, a fine performer, who has great patience with beginners and provides a high level of expertise for more advanced students.

 

Organ

Organ students may study with Prof. Joshua Chai an accomplished organist, worship leader, tenor, composer and choral director.

 

Instrumental and Strings

Students may study flute with Prof. Katie LaRue, Brass with Dr. Josh Davies or strings with Dr. Pasha Sabouri. These teachers are accomplished performers and teachers who have the ability to work with students of all playing levels.

 

Guitar

Dr. Kimberley Perlak teaches all levels of guitar instruction in a variety of styles.
