Lessons & Private Study

Individual private lessons are available to all students, regardless of major. Students may register for a 30 minute private lesson once per week (1 credit) or a full hour lesson once per week (2 credits). The lessons are designed to help all students achieve high levels of technical skill and musicianship.

Private Music Lesson Guidelines outline the general requirements for all private students, regardless of instrument.

Students study voice privately or in a class setting with Prof. Blythe Cates or Dr. Wayne Davis. The instructors match the skill level and interests of students with quality vocal literature in a variety of styles. Students may also perform in fall and spring opera productions coached by these two fine instructors.

Music Majors, Minors as well as students who just enjoy piano as an elective have the opportunity to study with Dr. Patricia Burnham or Dr. Jodi Blount. Both are fine performers, accompanists and church pianists who have great patience with beginners and provide a high level of expertise for more advanced students.

Organ students may study with Prof. Rob Gerlach an accomplished organist and worship leader.

Students may study flute with Prof. Bryan Kennard, Brass with Dr. Eundo Park or percussion with Prof. Aaron Lack. These teachers are accomplished performers and teachers who have the ability to work with students of all playing levels.

Dr. Janet Grohovac teaches all levels of guitar instruction in a variety of styles.
