You have worked hard to get to this point in your education and we are excited to have you here! Your college/university education so far has been within a liberal arts framework and has helped you expand your knowledge and reasoning skills.
In the Nursing Program our goal is to help you master the nursing knowledge, skills, attitudes, and clinical reasoning ability required of new BSN graduates beginning their nursing practice. The Concordia BSN program prepares you to function as a beginning professional nurse in the practice roles set forth by the Texas Board of Nursing (2010) and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (2008). The roles of the BSN-prepared nurse are to function competently as a:
Member of the Profession of Nursing
Provider of Patient-Centered Care
Patient Safety Advocate, and
Member of the Healthcare Team.
The Concordia Nursing Student Handbook (pdf) is designed to accompany the Concordia University Texas Student Handbook, which applies to all Concordia undergraduate students. The Nursing Student Handbook specifically addresses Nursing Program policies and procedures and your responsibilities as a professional nursing student.
