Summary of Position:

The College of Business, Concordia University Texas, invites applications for a full-time teaching position in The Concordia MBA as Assistant or Associate Professor of Business. Teaching responsibilities will be in the quantitative business disciplines, depending on the candidate’s expertise and the needs of the University. We are especially interested in applicants with interdisciplinary expertise that include accounting, finance, economics, or quantitative methods. Position Details:

  • Teach 24 credit hours in a year.  (The MBA is a three term program: spring, summer and fall, and the remaining credit hour expectation may include undergraduate courses.)

  • Complete a 30-hour expectation with the remaining 6 hours consisting of advising, committee work, course development and other duties. Additional expectations include being part of the Concordia academic community, including participating in commencement exercises.

  • Assist program director in community engagement activities to foster academic excellence and program growth.

  • Demonstrate computer literacy and a willingness to incorporate new technologies into the classroom.

  • Maintain effective academic advising and regular office hours.

  • Attend (on occasion) students’ extra-curricular events such as concerts, athletic events, art shows, drama, etc.

  • Serve on university committees and attend Division, College, and Faculty meetings.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Candidates for Assistant or Associate Professor must hold a terminal degree (earned doctorate) in a business discipline or a related field.  A record of teaching excellence at the college-level appropriate to rank including graduate level teaching experience is preferred.

  • Experience as a practitioner in chosen field is required.

  • Applicants must have a strong commitment to undergraduate education within the community of a Lutheran Christian university; membership in a Lutheran church is preferred. All members of Concordia’s faculty must be a member of a recognized Christian church.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary depends upon rank and credentials. The salary range for this position is approximately $44,300 to $56,800 for an Assistant Professor, $51,000 to $61,200 for an Associate Professor.   Concordia University has a competitive benefits package including full medical and dental for the employee, with the option to pay for family members and the option to choose the level of coverage. Employees are enrolled in a retirement program paid for by the university and have the option of contributing to a 403B retirement savings plan with a match of 50% of the first 2% of the salary contribution. Other benefits include disability and life insurance policies. Children and spouses of full-time employees are eligible for the tuition waiver program after they have been with the institution for 6 months.
