Position Summary

Is web your passion?  We are looking for a highly-motivated individual to join our team.  The primary responsibilities include managing web content, site architecture, and working with around 50 content contributors through a content management system (CMS). 

The University is in the process of moving to HTML5 and responsive web.  The ideal candidate will have some experience in responsive web design with demonstrated skills using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages the university website cultivating user-friendly architecture and creative graphical design.

  • Applies basic knowledge of HTML, CSS and CMS programming to designs used in web architecture.

  • Ensures University websites meet applicable usability standards.

  • Communicating, delivering and enforcing consistent brand message on University web sites.

  • Provide support for web editors, including training, maintaining an up-to-date web training manual and style guide and ensuring that web content submissions meet all appropriate guidelines.

  • Monitors site traffic (analytics) and makes recommendations for improved analytics and better user experience.

  • Ensures consistent message, nomenclature and branding on the web, even outside Concordia’s ‘owned’ sites.

  • Manages external inquiries to web master accounts and serves as a liaison to IT and external web vendors (Intelliworks/Hobsons, iModules, SideArm) as needed.

  • Supervises student workers as required.

  • Performs other tasks for the department as assigned by Associate Vice President of Communications or the Vice President of External Relations

     

Position Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Concordia Texas (CTXs) vision and mission.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office products, including MS Word, PowerPoint, and MS Outlook.

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite of products, especially Photoshop and Dreamweaver.

  • Highly creative with strong design abilities

  • Demonstrated organizational and strategic planning skills.

  • Demonstrated customer service skills.

  • Demonstrated skills in business or technical writing.

  • Ability to interact with all levels within the organization.

  • Ability to work independently or as a member of the team.

  • Ability to communicate orally.

  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multi-task with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to be detailed-oriented.

  • Ability to articulate and support CTXs values and Code of Conduct.

  • Ability to interpret and abide by CTXs policies and procedures.

  • Ability to design well-formed standards-compliant web pages.

  • Ability to work with a CMS and server-side technologies such as Adobe Coldfusion to develop / modify site templates.

  • Ability to manage web projects across departments for highly effective implementation and execution, including presentations and end-user training

  • Demonstrate best practices for web and communicate those to web editors

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, communication, digital media  or a combination of education and experience that yields the required knowledge, skills and abilities to manage a large website

  • Experience as a webmaster, web content manager, web strategist, web developer/designer, or related digital media experience.

  • Demonstrated experience using analytics to manage a website and make recommendations for performance improvement

  • Skills using HTMLS, CSS3, and JavaScript desirable.

     

Special Working Conditions

  • Must be willing to work occasional weekends and evenings as required by the department.

  • Willingness to pursue advanced training.

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and work with a computer.
