The Concordia University Texas Library is located in Building F.

What are the library hours?

Please check the Library home page for current hours. Hours may change due to holidays, intersession periods, and other events, as posted on the Library Calendar.

Are there study rooms available?

The library has several study rooms on the lower level of BLDG F. You can check out the locked study rooms for 2-hour blocks at the Information Desk with your CTX ID. Please help us keep the study rooms tidy by removing your trash and turning off the lights when you leave.

Where are the books located in the library?

CTX Library has approximately 50,000 print items. The main collection (or the stacks), over-sized collection, reference collection, and juvenile collection, are located on the lower level of the library. While you can't check out materials in the Reference Collection, you're welcome to make copies or take pictures of the pages you need with your phone or tablet. They are arranged by Library of Congress (LC) call number order.

A small set of reference books and the Popular Reading Collection are located on the upper level of the library behind the Information Desk.

CTX Library's eBook collection of over 180,000+ items is available 24/7 through the eBooks tab on the library home page.

Where are the magazines and journals located in the library?

You can find print magazines and journals on the upper level of the library near the Information Desk. We keep a small number of past issues underneath the wooden shelves holding the current issues. Most of the past issue are on the compact shelving units on the lower level. Magazines and journals are for library use only.

How long can I check out books?

The checkout periods are:

Undergraduate and ADP Students: 4 weeks
Graduate Students: 6 weeks
Faculty: 6 weeks
Staff: 4 weeks
Courtesy/TexShare card holders: 4 weeks

How much are overdue fines?

Standard checkout items: $0.25per day, per title

Reserve items: $0.50 per hour, per title

Lost items: Replacement cost + any accrued overdue fines + $10 processing fee

Lost study room keys: $100 (don't lose this key)

Fines can be paid by either cash, credit card, or check at the Information Desk. Borrowing privileges will be suspended while you have outstanding overdue materials and unpaid fines. After a few weeks, fines may be transferred to your university account and will be payable to the accounting department.

Can I print, scan and photocopy in the library?

The IT Helpdesk provides a computer lab and 5 additional lobby computers in BLDG F. Only black and white printing is available in library. Scanning services in color are available. The computer lab hours are the same as the library hours.

A librarian or student worker can assist you with making copies or scanning documents to your email. Faxing and color printing are available at Tornado Print and Mail (the mail room).

Is there a food and drink policy for the computer lab?

No food is allowed in the computer lab. Only drinks with screw-on lids are allowed in the computer lab.

Can I use library databases off-campus?

Yes, when accessing Library databases off campus you will be prompted to log-in with your CTX login and password (the same login for Concordia email and on-campus computers).

Is there anywhere I can watch a film or listen to music in the library?

Arrangements can be made, please check with the librarian. There are also headphones are available for checkout at the Information Desk.

How can I get citation, research help?

The library provides several Research Guides and Tutorials, offering library, subject, citation, copyright and database guides/tutorials. Librarians are available to assist you at all steps of the citation and research process. How can I request a library instruction session for my class?

Please submit an email request to library@concordia.edu at least one week in advance to give us adequate time to prepare for the class. Please include your course syllabus or an outline of the assignment in your email.

How can I place materials on reserve for my class?

Reserve items can either be the instructor's personal materials or materials from the library collection. Please contact the library for further information: 512-313-5050, or library@concordia.edu

What are my options if I can't find what I'm looking for at the CTX Library?

The library can obtain books and periodical articles from other libraries using Inter-library Loan (ILL). Please come by the library to fill out a form, or contact a librarian for more details.
