The Maintenance Specialist I (MS I) will serve as part of a work team responsible for managing and maintaining all campus buildings and their operating systems.


  • Will work with Facilities Management Technicians performing basic to intermediate level tasks
  • Will regularly operate a variety of power and hand tools
  • Will work almost exclusively on their feet
  • Will regularly be paired with Facilities staff and be trained in specific areas based on their initial skill level, learning aptitude and interests to complete tasks


  • Must be able to understand and follow all university policies, procedures and codes of conduct
  • Must be reliable and punctual
  • Must be able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Must be willing to learn and proficiently use hand tools and lawn equipment
  • Must be able to accomplish all assigned tasks safely (training provided)


  • Bending, stooping
  • Lifting a minimum 35 pounds
  • Climbing ladders
  • Stand or walk for extended periods
