Advanced Literacy - Reading Specialist Practicum
The Reading Specialist practicum is completed during the final semester of the Advanced Literacy Specialization Program in LTC 5336. Candidates who successfully complete the advanced literacy specialization will meet the State of Texas course requirements and will be eligible to take the TExES test to be certified as a Reading Specialist.
Candidates complete a practicum under the mentorship of a Texas certified Reading Specialist or Master Reading Teacher with at least three years of experience and under the supervision of the University by a currently certified Texas Reading Specialist, Master Reading Teacher or Administrator. During the practicum, each candidate will complete a minimum of 160 practicum hours by completing activities that relate to the program competencies and Reading Specialist Standards.
Note: Students may log practicum hours only during LTC 5336.

All Reading Specialist Practicum forms will be sent and must be completed through Docusign. Handwritten forms will not be accepted.
