This specialization prepares teachers for literacy instruction at early childhood, elementary, middle school or high school levels.
Students completing this specialization will also be eligible to take the TExES Reading Specialist exam and with a passing score will become certified as a Reading Specialist. A 16-week case study is required.

This specialization prepares students to sit for the TExES Principal Certification Exam #068.The sequence provides benchmarks that must be met for a student to be admitted to and complete the certification to become a principal in the state of Texas.
Candidates for the Texas Principal certificate must:
- Hold a master's degree
- Hold a valid classroom teaching certificate
- Have a minimum of two full creditable years of classroom teaching experience in a K-12 school as defined by the district record
- Successfully complete a principal preparation program
- Obtain permission from Concordia to sit for the Texas principal certification exam
The Master of Education in Coaching and Sports Administration specialization is designed to develop practitioners to lead sports programs or enterprises with fairness, integrity and competence. Whether the student aspires to be a school district's athletic director, a university coach or a fitness manager, this program will help develop the skills necessary for such leadership positions. Issues applicable to sports programs in Texas will be discussed, with topics ranging from state laws on concussions to bidding requirements to teacher/coach contracts. All faculty will have terminal degrees (PhD or EdD) and will have experience in sports programs as school administrators, officials, coaches, trainers, officials or business managers.
This 16-month program has a specific focus on the practical knowledge in the academic discipline of coaching and athletics administration. In addition to the core courses in ethics and leadership, research and law, and finance, the specialization offers a sports-specific practicum expertise in coaching and administration. The practicum provides a supervised educational work experience in a specific sport that allows students to apply the theories of what they’ve learned in a practical setting.
This program is an online cohort. Course rotation will allow the student to complete the program in a 16-month time frame. In lieu of a thesis, an action research report concludes the program.
The Master of Education in Special Education will give you the necessary background to plan effective instruction and better manage the learning environment for students who are exceptional. Upon completion of the program, students will be ready to pass the State of Texas Special Education Certification Exam, which allows teachers to begin their career in special education and have a profound impact on students.
