Advanced Literacy Instruction

This 2-year specialization prepares teachers for literacy instruction at early childhood, elementary, middle school or high school levels.

Students completing this specialization will also be eligible to take the TExES Reading Specialist exam and, with a passing score will become certified as a Reading Specialist. A 16-week case study is required.

Educational Administration

This 2-year specialization prepares students to sit for the TExES Principal Certification Exam #068.The sequence provides benchmarks that must be met for a student to be admitted to and complete the certification to become a principal in the state of Texas.

Candidates for the Texas Principal certificate must:

  1. Hold a master's degree
  2. Hold a valid classroom teaching certificate
  3. Have a minimum of two full creditable years of classroom teaching experience in a K-12 school as defined by the district record
  4. Successfully complete a principal preparation program
  5. Obtain permission from Concordia to sit for the Texas principal certification exam

This 16-month program is designed to develop practitioners to lead sports programs or enterprises with fairness, integrity and competence. Whether the student aspires to be a school district's athletic director, a university coach or a fitness manager, this program will help develop the skills necessary for such leadership positions.
