"Irish I had something fun to do on St. Patrick's Day this year."
You must be feeling lucky, because we are here to help! Not sure what you're going to do to celebrate St. Patrick's Day this year?
Whether you enjoy music, food, drinks or watching traditional dancing, here are some ways you can enjoy your Irish heritage (or at least experience the luck of the Irish!)
Celebrate with authentic Irish music
If you’re going to be hitting up SXSW anyway, why not see some diverse acts acts from Dublin to Kildare. Folksy Dublin-based Saint Sister will be there to get the mood going and electronic beat makers Le Galaxie will get you dancing. Catch the show from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m on Thursday, March 15.
Enjoy a real Irish breakfast
Hungry for some pre-St. Patrick’s Day fun? Head to the Full Irish Breakfast showcase at B.D. Riley's. Music from Ireland is bringing six of their best acts to Austin for an afternoon-long showcase, which if you RSVP here.
Treat yourself to a traditional Irish breakfast (or some Austin breakfast tacos) and stay for the Guinness. The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday March 16.
Fadó’s last fest
Irish pub Fadó will be closing its doors after 20 years, but will be throwing their famous St. Patrick's day block party for the last time this Saturday. The party will start at 7 a.m. on and will carry on into the night, smack dab in the middle of South By madness. RSVP here.
A family-friendly affair
Hit Pioneer Farms for their annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival at Jourdan-Bachman Pioneer Farms as they celebrate all things Irish. Experience authentic Celtic music, performances by local troupe Inishfree Irish Dancers, Irish language workshops and Irish imports. The party lasts from 1 to 8 p.m. on St. Patrick's Day.
Beat the traffic
Not interested in enduring the SXSW traffic this Saint Patricks’ Day? Why not swing over to Cedar Park and enjoy a casual gathering at Whitestone Brewery. Their annual St. Patrick's Day party features Irish food by Tryst food truck, live music by the Porch Turtles and St. Patrick's Day t-shirts.
The festivities take place this Saturday from 12 p.m. to 1 a.m.!
