Concordia University Texas took home two awards from West Austin Chamber of Commerce's 2019 Community and WACCY awards ceremony last week. CTX was named "Chamber Partner of the Year," and our Vice President for Administration and Chief Operations Officer, Beth Atherton, was selected for the "Words of Wisdom" award.
"I am so pleased for that Concordia’s involvement in this community surrounding our campus is being acknowledged,” Atherton said. “It’s exciting that the West Austin Chamber finds value in the work and initiatives that Concordia is working on."
The "Chamber Partner of the Year" award is given to the WACC member business who is declared the most actively engaged and supportive partner of the West Austin Chamber. The "Words of Wisdom" award is given to a WACC member that others are most likely to turn to for advice, encouragement and words of wisdom.
Community members nominate fellow neighbors, businesses, friends and co-workers for Friends of the Chamber awards, Community awards and WACCY awards in several sub-categories. Voting is then open to the community.
"It was gratifying for me as an MBA counselor to take part in this event," Kal Demerew, CTX Graduate Admissions Counselor, said. "The awards are really a testament to Concordia’s active engagement with small businesses and entrepreneurs in the community. Colleges today must continue to solicit community partnerships to be effective agents of change and innovation, and it is very encouraging to see Concordia’s commitment recognized.”
