Rio Grande Valley Missional Opportunities

Who we are: RioMAC is the Rio Grande Valley Mission Action Council.

RioMAC is the local mission arm for the twelve congregations of Texas District Circuit 28.

We are located in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, bordering Mexico, in an area with a population over 1,000,000, located in a two counties spanning 3,750 square mile area. In this area we have the unique distinction of the fact the Brownsville/Harlingen metro area is the lowest socio-economic area in the United States as reported in the October 8th, 2015 issue of Thirty-five percent of the households were reported living in poverty. The majority of those living in this area are Hispanic. Many people of this area are the unchurched, the fallen away, the at risk, or the lost.

Projects: RioMAC DCE Brenda Segovia will coordinate appropriate mission opportunities across the valley based on age and skill levels of the group. We have minor home improvement projects that include yard clean up and painting, to major home construction projects that include replacement of windows, structural repairs, replacing siding, painting, and on occasion roof repairs. We may build a sidewalk, handicap ramp, dig water and sewer lines. We may help work at a food distribution warehouse, or we may distribute food into a community, clean a blighted area in the projects, or we may do beach stewardship and clean a beach area on South Padre Island of debris that injures turtles, fish, and other marine life. We may work at a local church building or property.

We will also work with the children and adults of the communities we are working in. We can provide mini-vbs type camps, or we may do a week long VBS, or we may do adult Bible studies, skits, puppets shows, games, songs, or other evangelism activities as we share His Word and GO make disciples. We have the availability of a large big top tent to erect and use for some of these activities.

There are many opportunities available for His harvest workers.
