Counseling Services
Counseling services will remain available to students throughout the summer via a telehealth platform. Students will also be able to utilize telehealth throughout the Fall semester so that they can ultimately access counseling services in the way that is most comfortable for them.
Student Activities
Student Activities continues to be active throughout the summer, outreaching to and engaging with students through digital programming and social media. Please check our website and follow us on social media @ctxstudentlife to find out more about what’s happening! We are actively planning for the Fall semester and will be announcing more information on student organizations, clubs, events, programs, and activities as we get closer to the start of the Fall 2020 semester.
Campus Ministry
Chapel
Chapel is central to what we do at Concordia – we gather together:
- to hear what God’s Word says to us by reading it and talking about it,
- to pray for each other, for everyone in need, and for the whole world,
- to sing, speak, and sometimes just sit in silence.
We certainly hope to be together, in person, in the spiritual home we call the Chapel, praising God together with you, and serving each other and our Austin community. We will follow the guidelines of local and national health officials and the best practices we have learned from our ministry partners.
Even if we’re not together, we will continue to study the Word of God, pray, sing, and encourage one another. Our theme verse for next year is With One Heart: Joyful in Hope (Romans 12:4-13). A portion of that Scripture: "Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer."
When the campus went fully remote this spring, we began offering email devotions every day. These have grown to include weekly prayer and discussion via virtual meetings, dozens of speakers from all over the country offering messages of encouragement, virtual musical offerings, and many other resources.
Pastoral Care
The Campus Pastor, Steve Fick, is currently available to meet with students virtually or in person. The best way to create those meetings is by texting or calling him at (512) 695-2087. Pastor Fick is also leading a zoom prayer and discussion time on Thursdays at 3 p.m.
Prayer Requests
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12
The Campus Ministry Team wants to be able to pray for your needs, so we are collecting prayer requests from our Concordia University Texas family. We encourage and invite you to send your prayer requests to prayers@concordia.edu.
If you want your request to be confidential (viewed only by our Campus Pastor), simply put “Confidential” in the subject line.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
Student Ministry & Missions
Mission Club, Refuge (student-led worship), Life Groups, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes hope to resume meeting during the Fall semester, either in person or virtually, depending on health and safety restrictions. Service opportunities will likely be local until travel restrictions have been lifted.
You will be receiving email from the Campus Ministry Team at the start of the academic year, and we will communicate our plans for Fall Campus Ministry in them. In the meantime, you can reach out to the Campus Ministry Team, we’re here to serve you and will be praying for you.
