Digital Content Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY
The Digital Content Specialist will serve as the primary content creator and manager for Concordia.edu. This role will work collaboratively across departments to research and develop high-quality content that accurately reflects the University. This role will also work closely with the Office of University Communications on all major website projects and initiatives and ongoing content maintenance.

POSITION FUNCTIONS

  • Content Development: Serve as the primary writer and content creator for Concordia.edu; collaborate with content team on writing messaging for the University blog, social media, ads, digital campaigns, and other marketing materials; translate the Concordia brand into compelling content (i.e., text video, imagery) by working closely with the social media team
  • Website Management: Work closely with the Webmaster to manage the content and site architecture of the University’s website; Manage and complete HelpDesk tickets for content edits and updates; serve as the liaison between University Communications and campus departments regarding website content and edits; conduct keyword research and use SEO guidelines to increase web traffic; maintain consistency across webpages; track and analyze website traffic; determine and track important KPIs
  • Content Engagement: Ensure content is fresh, persuasive, relevant to key audiences, “on brand,” and effective in communicating the University’s mission; continually explore, develop, and deliver innovation to our digital presence;

 POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in, communications, digital media, or a combination of education and experience that yields the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to manage the content of a large website
  • Experience as a content writer, web content manager, web strategist, or related digital media experience
  • Skills using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery are preferred
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Knowledge of best SEO practices and tools
  • Great organization and time management skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and work with a computer
  • Must be willing to work occasional weekends and evenings as required by the department
