Digital Marketing & Events Intern

**This student position supports career services and internship program initiatives and serves as part of the Vocation and Professional Development team.

POSITION SUMMARY 

This position develops content and distributes digital and print media to students promoting engagement with the VPD and the Emerging Professionals Network, including social media platforms, jobs, internships, and career development events.

POSITION FUNCTIONS

  • Create branded content for digital and print media for VPD and Emerging Professionals Network promoting jobs, internships, and career development events.
  • Schedule social media on platforms such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite or Hub spot. 
  • Post a minimum 1 tweet, 1 Instagram, and 1 Facebook post per day. Post 1 LinkedIn post per week.
  • Submit content for CTX social media platforms to Social Media Director.
  • Distribute promotional content around campus and via mass email campaigns through Handshake and/or Outlook.
  • Ensure that all marketing campaigns function smoothly and are communicated through all available outlets and campus constituents.
  • Proofread all marketing materials for accuracy, spelling and grammar.
  • Liaise with Director and Marketing staff to brand digital media and print content, and to schedule campaigns for jobs, internships, and upcoming events.
  • Mandatory attendance at weekly department meetings.
  • Attend majority of VPD events as an Ambassador of Emerging Professionals Network including assisting with registration and related activities so that events run smoothly.
  • Manage accuracy and timeliness of keeping marketing calendar up to date.
  • Assist Director with web editing.
  • Respond to general inquiries from walk-ins, email and phone messages.
  • Generate single page weekly summary of marketing activities performed, hours spent per activity (Adding up to 19 hours during semester) and top three priorities for the next week. Report should also note any barriers, problems or delays to planned outcomes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Excellent verbal and written (grammar & punctuation) communication skills.

  • High level of responsibility, including the ability to take initiative, be on time and complete tasks with a superior level of excellence.
  • Superior technology skills with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and willingness and aptitude to learn new functionalities of technologies specific to the office, including social media platforms, web editing and Handshake.
  • Resourceful, quickly and efficiently connect students to the information that they need.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information and records.
  • Ability to interact with the public and represent the University with a polished professionalism.
