Concordia's Nursing program is approved by the Texas Board of Nursing. Graduates are eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Texas after passing the NCLEX-RN examination.
To complete the BSN program, you must fulfill certain Pre-Nursing requirements. See below for more information and join us for our next Nursing Info Session to get all of your questions answered.
Traditional BSN Admission
The Traditional BSN track is a four-year program in which students enter as Pre-Nursing majors and, after completing the Pre-Nursing Sequence, apply for entrance into the Nursing program to complete the Professional Nursing Sequence.

Admission Requirements
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in the prerequisite Natural Sciences courses
- Transfer applicants: Pre-Nursing degree requirements cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Second degree seeking students: conferred degree cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS VI): Must take within three years of enrollment to the nursing program and receive a score of 67% or higher (no more than two attempts are allowed within a 365-day period to reach minimum score requirements accepted). Note that this requirement has been waived for Summer 2022, reinstated for Fall 2022 and beyond.
Once you are accepted into the Nursing program, you must complete the following:
- American Heart Association CPR certification from the “Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers” course
- Criminal background screening
- Drug screening
- Certified background checks for both the University and the Texas Board of Nursing
- Satisfactory completion of all immunization and health participation requirements through Clinical Student
You will be required to submit proof you have completed all of these participation requirements before you begin your Nursing education. These requirements are subject to change for each cohort and will be provided to you upon your acceptance.
Incoming Students
Freshmen interested in completing the traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing will be designated as Pre-Nursing majors while they complete the Pre-Nursing Sequence of courses.
Students transferring from another regionally accredited institution must also complete the prerequisite requirements before applying to the Nursing program. We do accept incoming transfer students directly into the Nursing program if prerequisite requirements are met. All incoming transfer students must be advised by an admissions counselor.
Any student who has been in a previous nursing program must submit a letter stating that the student is eligible for readmission to that program.
Current Concordia Students
During the last semester of prerequisite courses, students majoring in Pre-Nursing can apply for the Nursing program to complete the Professional Nursing Sequence of nursing/clinical work.

Application Process
The admissions process begins with submitting an application to the Office of Admissions. Decisions regarding acceptance are made at completion of the application file. All applicants will be considered on an individual basis.
1. Online Application and Application Fee
Complete the online application and pay the $50 non-refundable application fee. On your application, please use your legal name and fill in any maiden names.
If you have a promo code, do not enter your credit card information.
2. Transcripts
Submit official transcripts from the college or university where you earned your bachelor's and/or master's degree any any graduate coursework attempted.
The Office of Admissions requires that you have the official transcript from your degree-granting institution sent directly to the University (see official address below). Please request your transcript immediately, as it may take up to six weeks for transcripts to arrive in our office.
If any transcripts are from a foreign institution, an official WES Foreign Education Credential Service evaluation must be completed and sent to the Office of Admissions. For more information please visit the WES websites. Please note: This process could take several weeks.
You have three ways to get your transcripts to Concordia:
1. Student Delivered
A student-delivered transcript will be accepted as an official transcript only if it is received in the original sealed envelope and stamped by the institution of records as "Issued to Student in a Sealed Envelope."2. Electronically

BSN Direct Entry Admission
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Direct Entry track guarantees eligible incoming freshmen a spot in the BSN program prior to beginning nursing/clinical coursework, contingent upon meeting all final admission requirements. Students in the BSN Direct Entry track receive additional support.

Admission Requirements
The BSN Direct Entry track secures a spot in the Nursing program for qualifying freshmen while they complete the Pre-Nursing requirements.
Incoming freshmen who have been admitted as Pre-Nursing majors will be evaluated on their high school coursework and college-level math readiness to determine eligibility for admission to the BSN Direct Entry track.
- Cumulative high school GPA of 3.75 or greater
- Science courses with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater
- Math courses with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater
Before you join a BSN cohort and begin nursing/clinical work, you must meet the final requirements:

Apply to Direct Entry Program
The Office of Admissions will invite eligible students to apply to the BSN Direct Entry track using the Nursing Supplemental Form that is accessed through the online application system.
Each student's application is reviewed by the Office of Admissions and the director of the Undergraduate Nursing Program. They make a recommendation to the Dean of the College of Health Sciences for acceptance or denial of admission.
Students accepted into the BSN Direct Entry track are guaranteed a spot as long as they meet the final requirements prior to beginning the Professional Nursing Sequence.
