Concordia University Texas announces NCAA women’s beach volleyball, expanding women’s athletics in Central Texas

AUSTIN, Texas — Concordia University Texas today announced the launch of its NCAA women’s beach volleyball program, with competition set to begin in spring 2026. The team will be led by Amy Farber Teal, who brings more than 30 years of coaching experience and currently serves as head coach of the Tornados’ indoor volleyball program.

The announcement marks the latest step in the University’s strategic investment in women’s athletics, following the successful launch of women’s flag football during the 2024–25 academic year.

“This is an exciting next step in growing the future of women’s sports at Concordia Texas,” said Matt Wallis, interim director of athletics. “Adding beach volleyball creates another path for female student-athletes to compete and lead. We’re confident Coach Teal will build a program shaped by grit, faith and teamwork.”

The new beach volleyball program will complement Concordia Texas’s existing NCAA Division III indoor volleyball team. The program also supports the University’s mission to provide holistic development for students spiritually, academically, and athletically.

“In launching our first beach volleyball program, we are laying the foundation for something truly special,” Teal said. “This team will be about building a community of strong, empowered, and driven female athletes who are united by purpose and commitment to growing together in mind, body, and spirit.”

The team will train and compete at the Austin Sports Center in Cedar Park through a partnership with Austin Junior Volleyball and League One Volleyball (LOVB). This collaboration allows Concordia Texas student-athletes to compete at the collegiate level while staying rooted in the Central Texas community.

“I feel truly blessed to lead this team, elevate beach volleyball in Central Texas and bring greater visibility to all that Concordia Texas has to offer,” Teal said. “I can’t wait to see how far we go from right here in Austin.”

To ensure the new team is prepared, the program will operate on the following timeline:

• Summer 2025: Recruitment begins
• Fall 2025: Official game schedule released
• Spring 2026: Competition begins
