Nature Fest 2026 is Here: Explore, Learn, and Celebrate the Outdoors

There is something unique about learning in a place where nature is part of the experience. At Concordia University Texas, our campus is more than a place to study—it is a living environment that invites exploration, reflection, and connection.
Each spring, Nature Fest brings that experience to life through a week dedicated to celebrating the beauty and significance of our natural surroundings.
Exploring the Preserve
Nature Fest offers a variety of ways to step outside and experience the Concordia Preserve firsthand. Throughout the week, students, faculty, and staff can participate in guided short loop hikes, offering a 45-minute opportunity to learn about the land while enjoying time outdoors.
For those looking for a deeper experience, long loop hikes on Thursday and Friday provide a more immersive 90-minute journey through the preserve.
Today, the community is also invited to take part in pond hikes at 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 1:00 p.m.—a chance to slow down, spend quiet time by the water, and reflect in a peaceful setting. Picnic blankets will be provided, or participants are welcome to bring their own chairs.

Learning Through Experience

Beyond exploration, Nature Fest encourages hands-on learning that connects participants to the natural world in meaningful ways.
This week, Paleo Foraging sessions on Tuesday and Thursday invite participants to discover native plants and better understand the resources found within our environment.
For those interested in a different experience, the Friesenhahn Cave field trip on Saturday offers an opportunity to explore a significant natural site owned by CTX and deepen appreciation for the region’s history and ecology.
These experiences reflect Concordia’s commitment to learning that extends beyond the classroom—engaging both curiosity and stewardship.
Serving Our Campus Community
Nature Fest is not only about experiencing the environment, but also about caring for it.
Service-Learning and Environmental Stewardship are partnering to host campus clean-ups on Monday (3:00–4:30 p.m.) and Friday (12:00–1:00 p.m.), giving the community an opportunity to care for our shared spaces.
On Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., join us for Outdoor Chapel at the Pier, where we will gather for worship through songs, scripture, prayer, and a short devotional. Together, we’ll reflect on God’s creation as “the heavens declare the glory of God” (Psalm 19:1).
