Concordia Texas Welcomes Matt Frazier as Vice President of Innovation

Concordia University Texas welcomes Matt Frazier as Vice President of Innovation, a new executive leadership role focused on advancing strategic partnerships, developing new sources of revenue and creating sustainable opportunities for the University.
Matt brings experience across entrepreneurship, business development, technology, higher education and nonprofit fundraising. He founded and led The Pursuant Group, a fundraising and marketing firm serving nonprofit organizations, and has built a career around helping mission-driven organizations grow through innovation, relationships and disciplined execution.
University Offerings Beyond Degree Programs
At Concordia Texas, Matt will work across the University to identify ideas with the potential to become meaningful opportunities. His work may include corporate and community partnerships, workforce training and certifications, continuing education, conferences and events, sponsorships and other initiatives that extend the University’s impact while generating revenue further beyond tuition.
The work begins with listening—to faculty and staff who understand Concordia Texas’s strengths, to alumni and business leaders who see emerging needs, and to organizations seeking a Christ-centered partner.
“Many of the ideas are already here,” Matt said. “There are so many things Concordia can do. My position is here to see it through.”
A Unique Leadership Approach
Matt describes that work as shepherding ideas from possibility to execution. His approach combines an entrepreneur’s instinct to ask whether there is a better way with the persistence to build the relationships, processes and support an idea needs to succeed.
His approach is also deeply rooted in faith. Inspired by the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25, Matt views innovation as an act of stewardship: faithfully investing what God has entrusted to us. He believes prayer, discernment and action belong together.
“I trust God has a plan, and He’ll make it clear,” Matt said. “Hope is so powerful.”
Concordia Faithfully Forward
President and CEO Dr. Kristi Kirk believes Matt’s blend of experience, compassion and faith will help Concordia Texas move confidently into our next century.
“Matt sees possibility, but he also understands that innovation takes discipline, relationships and follow-through,” Kirk said. “What excites me most is the heart he brings to this work. He wants to help people dream again and then come alongside them to make those ideas possible. He trusts God’s direction for Concordia Texas, and I’m excited to see what we can build together.”
Matt began his role at the start of the fall semester. He joins Concordia Texas ready to listen, build and help the University pursue new possibilities with courage, compassion and faith.
