Rebecca (Lester) Wells has been an active member of the teaching and performance community in Austin for a little under a decade. She has an active violin and viola studio in Round Rock that serves up to 30 students, and many of her students have earned honors in Solo and Ensemble UIL and placement in Region orchestras. Prof. Wells plays a vital faculty role within the Austin Chamber Music Center summer workshop every year and has taught in many different programs in the Austin area, including many AISD schools – leading sectionals and giving private lessons. She has been trained in the Suzuki method, and worked closely with Dr. Laurie Scott and the Strings Project at the University of Texas at Austin. Prof. Wells believes strongly in creating a positive and constructive teaching environment, tailoring her approach to the individual student, and challenging them to reach their highest potential. She is particularly passionate about injury prevention and guiding students towards a more effective posture and technique.

Originally from Southern California, Wells moved to Texas and earned an MM in Viola Performance at the University of Texas at Austin, studying with Roger Myers, and her BM in Viola Performance from Azusa Pacific University studying under Jonathan Moerschel of the Calder Quartet. She has previously been a member of the Central Texas Philharmonic and currently performs all over the greater Austin area with Sienna String Quartet, Castle Hill String Quartet and Live Oak String Quartet. Her credits include playing with legends such as Smokey Robinson, Michael Bublé, Kygo, Sarah Brightman, and 2Cellos.
