Placement Policy

In order to ensure student success, all students entering Concordia for the first time who do not have transfer credits for college level English or math, will be placed in courses based on the English (reading & writing) and math portions of the SAT or ACT. Concordia also accepts TSI and ALEKS scores for math placement.

If you have any questions, please contact your admissions counselor or the Office of Admissions at 512-313-4CTX or admissions@concordia.edu.

There are three developmental math courses at Concordia, and they are MTH 0220 Developmental Quantitative Literacy, MTH 0313 Fundamentals of Math, and MTH 0320 Intermediate Algebra. Students register for two to three hours of credit for these courses, but do not receive college level credit (this is designated by the 0 in the course number e.g., MTH 0313); therefore, there is no impact to the GPA. Grades for these courses are CR (credit) or NC (no credit). Financial Aid counts these credit hours towards the total required for scholarships, grants, etc.
