POSITION SUMMARY

This position is broken into four different categories: teaching, scholarship, service and administrative (if applicable). 

POSITION FUNCTIONS

Area of Teaching Focus.  The position will teach a designated number of credit per academic year.  This can be split between the Fall, Spring, and Summer semester.  Any teaching assignments above this amount will be considered overload and will be compensated accordingly.  The teaching assignments include preparation of the live course shell in the LMS, regular review and feedback of assignments recorded in the LMS, and submission of success checks and grades by the required deadlines.

Service and Scholarship: Faculty members are evaluated on their scholarship and service to the college and university.  Scholarship activities include professional development and ongoing research, which enhance teaching and mentoring. Service activities include committee participation, leadership roles, student engagement, and other contributions to the university's goals. Another common form of service is program coordinator of an academic program such as a major, concentration, minor, or academic program such as the Honors Program. If applicable, this may be listed below under Administrative requirements.

Full-time faculty are expected to attend or participate in department, school, college, and University meetings, recruitment activities, opening service, Embark, Professional Development Days, and all commencement ceremonies unless excused by the Dean of Teaching & Learning Regular attendance at Campus Worship is strongly encouraged, as is attendance at other student events such as theater performances, choir concerts, athletic contests and the like. 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

Successful candidates for this position must:

  • Be academically qualified to teach undergraduate nursing courses. A Master’s degree in nursing is required, a terminal degree (DNP, PhD) in the area of nursing is preferred.
  • Be committed to teaching at a Lutheran university and from a distinctly Christian lens. Active participation in a Christian church required; in a Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod church preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
