Degree conferral process and steps for completing your educational journey.

Graduating with your degree is exciting! The information below is about the conferral of that degree and the steps to completing your education at Concordia University Texas. Commencement is the celebration of completing your degree, and more information about that can be found on our Commencement Day page.

  • Graduation Registration

Candidates for a Concordia University Texas degree must be registered for the appropriate Graduation Course during the term in which their work is to be completed and the diploma is to be awarded. Students register online for the graduation course in MyInfo. Registration for the graduation courses will begin and end on the dates published in the associated Academic Calendar.

Registering for the graduation course charges the corresponding fee to the student's account (see Fees and Refunds section in the Academic Catalog) and initiates a comprehensive graduation audit. When the graduation audit is completed, notification of the outcome of this audit is sent to the student's ctx.edu email account. If a student does not register for graduation, their record will not be audited, and the student will not graduate.

NOTE (Summer Graduates): Students who complete their degree and graduate in a Summer term and wish to participate in either the Fall or Spring commencement ceremony are not required to register for the applicable Fall or Spring graduation course. The student must contact Student Central to request clearance to participate in the applicable commencement ceremony by completing the Commencement Participation Petition.

  • Prepare to Graduate

Pending graduates and those approved to participate in commencement will receive important information regarding graduation and commencement via their CTX email accounts. It is the student's responsibility to check their CTX email accounts regularly, as all official communication from Concordia University Texas can only be sent to CTX student email accounts. For login and password assistance, please contact the IT Helpdesk at 512-313-HELP or ctxhelp@personalsupportcenter.com.

  • Outside Courses or Exams

Concordia University Texas strongly recommends that students do not take courses at other institutions or examinations for credit (such as CLEP) during their final term of study. Delays can occur in the shipment of final official transcripts and score reports from other institutions or organizations. This in turn can delay the term in which the student is awarded their degree.

Students enrolled in outside courses or who plan to take exams for credit during their final term of study should check with Student Central to verify when due dates are for official score reports (CLEP, IBO, DANTES, etc.) and final official transcripts for the term. This information is also included within the student’s official graduation audit.

Students taking courses at other institutions should always receive formal approval of transfer course eligibility from the Office of Academic Operations prior to registering for the course(s). Additional paperwork may be required of the student before approval is granted. This will ensure that the course(s) the student plans to take will transfer as needed.

Late submission of official transcripts or exam score reports may result in the student’s name being omitted from the commencement program and/or may delay a student's date of graduation by one or more full term(s).

  • Degree Certification

Degrees are awarded three times a year at Concordia University Texas. After the term is complete and final grades are posted for the term, the Office of Academic Operations will begin the process of degree certification. Once it is determined that a student has met all degree requirements, the degree will be awarded and posted to the student's transcript. Undergraduate students will also have any applicable Latin Honors designation posted to their transcript at that time. Students may monitor this progress by viewing their unofficial transcript in MyInfo. Final transcripts will indicate: Degree(s), Major(s), Concentration(s), Degree Date. For eligible undergraduate students, the applicable Latin Honors designation will also be included.

Any student that has not met graduation requirements will receive an email to their ctx.edu account. Students must again register for the proper graduation course in the term in which they anticipate graduation. If a student does not register for graduation, their record will not be audited, and the student will not graduate.

  • Diplomas

Concordia University Texas provides one diploma to each graduate upon certification. The average length of time for diploma delivery is six to eight weeks once all degree certifications are completed following the end of the term.

    Undergraduate Diplomas will indicate:

    • Degree
    • Major
    • Latin Honors (if applicable)
    • Degree Date
    • NOTE: Undergraduate students graduating with one degree and two majors will receive one diploma reflecting both majors. For undergraduate students graduating with two different degrees, the student will receive two diplomas, one for each degree awarded.

    Graduate Diplomas will indicate:

    • Degree
    • Concentration (if applicable)
    • Degree Date

Diplomas are mailed at no cost to a student’s permanent address as shown in MyInfo. Any address changes can be completed in the secure area of MyInfo. A student may have other types of active addresses on file (current, mailing, etc.). However, insofar as diploma shipment, the active permanent address will take precedence over all others. Students are responsible for verifying that the permanent address in MyInfo is correct at all times, especially prior to the end of the term in which the student will graduate. Diploma mailing addresses are confirmed by the Office of Academic Operations on the first business day after the term is completed.

If a diploma is lost in the mail because the student did not provide our office with an accurate permanent address by the time addresses are confirmed, the student will be charged the replacement fee for a new diploma.

If a student does not receive their diploma even though the address in our system was correct and they notify the Office of Academic Operations during the term immediately following their graduation term, CTX will provide one additional diploma at no cost, minus the cost of shipping and processing. After the term following the graduation term has passed, the student must pay for a replacement diploma.

The name placed on the diploma is the one found in the university data system. Students will find the exact spelling and format of their name on their transcript and in MyInfo. Students are responsible for verifying that their listed name is correctly spelled and formatted. The only name change permitted on the diploma are those made to the student’s official records. If needed, please see the Name Change Request section below for this process. If you have any questions about your listed name or the name change process, please contact Student Central.

If a diploma must be reprinted and re-sent because the student did not verify the spelling and format of their name, the student will be charged the replacement fee for a new diploma.

  • Name Change Request

A change of name in the student data system must be completed by completing the Name Change Request Form via DynamicForms. As part of the request, students must upload at least two forms of appropriate documentation or identification reflecting the correct spelling and formatting of their name.

The above form must be submitted no later than six (6) weeks prior to the commencement date for that term. The name requested on the form must exactly match the name shown on both forms of identification provided in order to be considered for approval.

  • Transcripts

If you need to order official transcripts, you may do so at any time by following the appropriate instructions listed on this webpage: www.concordia.edu/transcripts.

If you have any questions about the transcript ordering process, or the status of an order, please e-mail: Transcripts@concordia.edu.
