Once you decide to earn a degree, the next decision to make is whether you want to complete your studies online or in person. There are many pros and cons of online programs for you to consider.

If you decide that distance learning is ideal for you, it's important to know that not all online degree programs are designed the same. Concordia University Texas' online programs offer the same engaging, high-quality education to online students that on-campus students receive.

This article covers the top-three reasons why students love the online programs at Concordia.

1. Concordia's Online Programs Offer Personalized Attention

You're more than just a number at Concordia University Texas. The University's faculty members are committed to supporting each student on their journey to academic success.

One recent graduate recalled the tough times she experienced over the last year of her studies. She was grateful for one of her online professors who went above and beyond, consistently reaching out to her to see how she was doing. He gave her grace on assignment deadlines, worked with her, and prayed with her over the phone.

Individualized attention like this isn't offered in just any online program. The small class sizes at Concordia allow you to interact directly with your professors and classmates. You can receive personalized support from professors who know your name and participate in engaging class discussions with your peers.

2. Concordia's Online Programs Offer Flexibility

One of the greatest benefits of earning a degree online is flexibility. While you still have to meet deadlines for assignments, you can ultimately choose when and where you learn.

Wendy Lawrence started her undergraduate studies at Baylor University but left school before completing a degree. Serving as a senior account executive, she decided to finish her degree to maximize her career opportunities.

With a family and full-time career, Wendy chose Concordia because of its online program for working students. She said, "Through the online bachelor's program, I was able to more easily balance everything."

Graduating in December 2021 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management, Wendy received offers from multiple companies to serve as a vice president.

"When I started this journey at Concordia, I had no idea how blessed I would be by this experience," she stated. "I learned so much from the courses, professors, and students, and I will always be grateful.

3. Concordia's Online Programs Offer Comprehensive Support

After an 11-year hiatus, Erika Duarte ('19) decided to complete her bachelor's degree to advance her career. Erika chose Concordia's online program because it allowed her to keep her full-time job. Although she was nervous about earning her degree online after being out of school for more than a decade, Erika found the support she needed at Concordia.

She said: "There's definitely a lot of support and resources accessible to online students. Anything I needed, it was there for me. I never ran into a situation where I didn't know what to do."

While earning her degree, Erika began to climb ranks within her organization, and as she neared graduation, the company created a new position for her — integration systems manager.

Erika's best advice for online students is to not hesitate to reach out for help. She said:

Even though it can be hard or you feel you don’t have help, there is help. All you have to do is reach out and seek it; there’s always someone there. You don’t get help unless you ask for it. It’s something I learned because I am shy, but I learned if I don’t speak up, they won’t know I need help. Don’t be afraid to speak up; it will help you in the long run.

All online students at Concordia have access to the same comprehensive support as on-campus students.
