    Romans 15:1–7 (ESV)

    The Example of Christ

    15 We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 2 Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. 3 For Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.” 4 For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. 5 May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, 6 that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 7 Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. [H3]

    Reflect

    Every Concordia story begins with an invitation. Students arrive carrying different hopes, gifts, questions, experiences, and needs. Because Christ has welcomed us by grace, we are called to receive others with compassion, truth, and love.

    Give thanks for

    • Students and families who placed their trust in Concordia across its first century

    Pray for

    • Current students still finding their place
    • Future students discerning whether
    • Concordia will become part of their story
    • Churches, schools, and community members who encourage and support students

    Prayer

    Lord Jesus Christ, You welcome us by grace and call us into Your family. Bless every student who enters Concordia. Guide their decisions and surround them with people who reflect Your truth and love. Make this a community where each person is known, valued, and prepared for a life of faith and service. Amen.

    Romans 10:8–17 (ESV)

    8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); 9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

    14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard?[a] And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

    Reflect

    Christian worship begins not with what we bring to God, but with what He gives to us. Through His Word, God reveals our need, proclaims the forgiveness Christ won for us, strengthens faith, and sends His people to love and serve their neighbors.

    Give thanks for

    • Pastors, teachers, musicians, and students who have led worship at Concordia across generations

    Pray for

    • Pastors, teachers, musicians, and students who lead worship at Concordia today
    • Students who are growing, questioning, grieving, or seeking hope
    • Future generations to hear the Gospel clearly and faithfully
    • Pastors, congregations, and Christian ministries in Austin and beyond

    Prayer

    Gracious Father, gather Your people around Your life-giving Word. Through the Gospel of Your Son, forgive, comfort, strengthen, and renew us. Bless all who worship and pray at Concordia, and send us forth in faith to love and serve our neighbors. Amen.

    1 Peter 4:8–11 (ESV)

    8 Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. 9 Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: 11 whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. [H3] Reflect

    God gives people different gifts, interests, and abilities. These gifts are not measures of personal worth or reasons for pride. They are entrusted to us for the benefit of our neighbors.

    Give thanks for

    • Artists, musicians, communicators, and student leaders who shared their gifts throughout Concordia’s history

    The Value of Wisdom

    2 My son, if you receive my words
    and treasure up my commandments with you,
    2 making your ear attentive to wisdom
    and inclining your heart to understanding;
    3 yes, if you call out for insight
    and raise your voice for understanding,
    4 if you seek it like silver
    and search for it as for hidden treasures,
    5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord
    and find the knowledge of God.
    6 For the Lord gives wisdom;
    from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
    7 he stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
    he is a shield to those who walk in integrity,
    8 guarding the paths of justice
    and watching over the way of his saints.
    9 Then you will understand righteousness and justice
    and equity, every good path;
    10 for wisdom will come into your heart,
    and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;
    11 discretion will watch over you,
    understanding will guard you,

    Reflect

    Christian education welcomes rigorous learning because all truth belongs to God. Faith gives students a foundation from which to seek wisdom with humility, courage, and discernment.

    Colossians 3:12–17 (ESV)

    12 Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

    Reflect

    Christian vocation teaches that service to God is lived out through faithful work for the good of our neighbors. Knowledge becomes meaningful when it is used with wisdom, integrity, and compassion.

    1 Corinthians 1:18–25 (ESV)

    Christ the Wisdom and Power of God

    18 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written,

    “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.”

    20 Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach[a] to save those who believe. 22 For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

    Reflect

    The cross confronts us with the seriousness of sin and the immeasurable depth of God’s love. Jesus bore our sin, died in our place, and rose again so that we might receive forgiveness, life, and salvation.

    Acts 2:42–47 (ESV)

    The Fellowship of the Believers

    42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 And awe[a] came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

    Reflect

    Reflect

    Leadership, athletics, and student activities can develop discipline, courage, and perseverance. Yet our identity is not secured by performance, recognition, or success. In Christ, we are loved before we achieve anything.
