Throughout the year, events and experiences will bring students, alumni, faculty, churches, and community partners together to celebrate this milestone.
A 100-year anniversary invites the entire Concordia Texas community to participate in this historic moment.

Centennial Prayer Breakfast
Prayer is foundational for what we do at Concordia, and every semester, we bring together the community to pray. We pray for our campus, our students, our community and our supporters. Join with Austin’s faith community Friday, October 23 from 8 am to 11 am.

Join us for a festive, Texas sized celebration at the beautiful Oasis on Lake Travis, as we honor a century of lives inspired and futures shaped. Enjoy a Texas fajita buffet, open bar, photo booth and dancing the night away. Tickets are available for purchase for dinner on Friday, October 23.

We will celebrate this historic anniversary inviting all to our Northwest Austin campus. Take a tour, relive old memories, hear from favorite professors, enjoy a catered lunch. The day will be a celebration to remember ending with a large worship hour.

What is the schedule for the Centennial Campus Day?
The event will be hosted at Concordia Texas from 10 am – 6 pm.
- 9:00 am: Check-in with coffee and light breakfast options
- 10:00 am: Open Ceremony: Welcome Prayer and Kick-Off
- Jane Martens & Larry Meissner, honorary chairs
- 11:30 am – 1:30 pm: BBQ Tailgate Lunch with Music by Worship Music DJ’s
- 4 pm: Centennial Worship Service

What faculty will present demos during the Centennial Campus Day?
Faculty demos:
- Nursing Simulation Demonstration. Dr. Amber Shammas, Senior Director, College of Health Sciences and Associate Professor of Nursing will coordinate demonstrations in CTX Nursing Simulation labs with Nursing faculty and nursing students.
- Student Symposium. Dr. Mary Kay Johnston, Professor of Biology will set up a display of previous students’ poster presentations. Throughout the day, this will be passive programming—guests can view the displays on their own. However, at two times during the day, Dr. Johnston will be present to discuss faculty mentoring of students on their research projects. Students from all CTX disciplines participate in this event in Spring and Fall (so it won’t simply be STEM posters).
- Friesenhahn Cave & Preserve talk. Dr. Jen Hofmann, Associate Professor of Biology and Friesenhahn Cave & Preserve Coordinator will give a dynamic classroom talk about Concordia’s Friesenhahn Cave, complete with a virtual tour of the cave and physical artifacts from the cave,
- The Book of James & the Art of Translating Greek. Dr. Curt Giese, Professor of Religion will deliver a classroom talk on his experiences teaching Greek, his Concordia Commentary book of James, and decades-long work he has done with the Concordia Commentary Series: A Theological Exposition of Sacred Scripture.
- The Art of Ceramics. Professor Nicholas Dertien, Adjunct Professor Art will conduct a hands-on working with clay demonstration in the CTX art studio. He will also discuss the art of glass blowing and share his work designing baptismal fonts for worship spaces.
